SYMPOSIUMS
All meetings and symposiums will be conducted
at the hotel except the two Saturday afternoon
symposiums which will be conducted at the Arboretum.
The first Saturday afternoon symposium will show
how to grow Mum Bonsai. Mum Bonsai is a hobby
that is open to everybody. Bonsai can be grown
very easily wherever there is adequate sun, even
on a condo balcony! Come and listen to the technique
of growing this ancient art form. In addition,
“Miniatures,” a new art form, will be discussed.
Miniatures do not follow a rigid Bonsai form.
Individual designs are limited only by your imagination.
The second symposium will discuss how to interest
school-age students in the growing of mums. This
is not merely a hypothetical discussion. It is
actually being accomplished under the direction
of the North Carolina Chrysanthemum Society. This
symposium will be led by one of the school teachers
as well as a member of the North Carolina Chrysanthemum
Society. They will tell us how to get started
in this very worthwhile endeavor. So far eight
local schools are involved with this program.
